another day

today, katie had to work and asked if i was able to watch the little man for a few hours. (OF COURSE!) he came over and we hung out. paul had been helping a friend with wood and he showed up with a loader to flatten out the garden. conrad constantly looked out the window, pointed at paul and said wow. so, we took some chairs out and watched paul plow through the weeds in the garden. he flattened it in no time. paul also transported my rosemary and onions to the new plant box. it looks wonderful.
conrad took the time, in the brief moments of sun, to lounge in the sun.
after conrad went home, dad and i headed through the rain to take down the booth at the pleasant grove fair. i can't believe how much it rained!

my beehives

we were going to hike the 'y' today for our activity but the clouds were pretty scary and i didn't want to chance it. the girls for a while had been wanting to watch newsies. i had kelsie run to the store for me and pick up a few treats for them. we started the movie and they soon became restless/bored, so we went outside and played a few games. i think they could have stayed for hours and hours if i hadn't called it a night.
conrad also spent the night because katie and ransom were both really sick. lucky me!

thinning them

it is that time of year to thin out the peaches. last year, we didn't really thin them too much and a couple branches broke off. it was really sad, so paul was quite determined to get them thinned. he took the ladder and did the tops and i did the bottom. it went pretty fast. occasionally i would throw the small peaches we were taking off at paul's butt (fun for me!). yes...this is how well paul tans!
what am i going to do with our peaches?... fresh pies (my favorite), jam, shakes, peaches with a little cream, peach glaze on fresh rolls, freeze for shakes, cobbler, tarts....etc

only two!

dad, sue, miranda and i went down to the st george store to paint their walls the new shades of pebbles. it was a great trip. sue and miranda hung out at the condo while dad and i painted (fair trade?). mom told me before we left to take some pictures. not just 'done' pictures, but some 'action' photos as well. i got to painting and forgot i have a camera...as soon as i remembered, i told dad if he smiled right, i would only have to take one...i took it and sure enough, he didn't really smile. i told him i would have to take another one (as i said that, he put his head back and sighed) and hopefully that would be the last one. we looked at it and dad said it was good enough (really he just wanted to get the painting done and i agreed). this photo was the good one we took. now you see what i have to put up with when i actually take a photo of dad!

antiques

i got this sign from my grandpa and nana years ago, and i haven't wanted to get rid of it. i have a soft spot for antiques, especially when they come from those i love. paul surprised me, cleaned it up, re-wired and hung it up. i love it. the part i love, is i can see this sign from the road. it has a light bulb and a timer. i will always think of my grandpa and nana when i look at this. thanks paul!

heidi's graduation

paul's little sister heidi, graduated tonight from high school. we are so proud of her. paul and i took off right after work and drove up to logan so we could be there. (what is with all the construction by the way?) we got there just in time and spent most of the time trying to find her in her seat. during one of the speeches, we noticed the boys moving around a lot. a couple teachers went to see the commotion and pretty soon, they were part of the commotion. i thought..."how rude, they are getting some good advice". a couple minutes later, a little white mouse came out from under their chairs. the entire crowd got up, screamed and pointed. i must admit i didn't like the sight of that little mouse at all...i put my feet up impressively fast. some student must have thought..."this will be hilarious" whatever... paul doesn't do well sitting for longer than 10 minutes (unless he is eating), and was soon moving around wishing the speakers would speed up their remarks. it was pretty comical.
finally the service was done and we were able to spend a little time with her. she is a wonderful woman. when i met her 7 years ago, she was so shy and didn't walk around with a lot of confidence. she really has blossomed. she is so pretty and holds her head high. i am so glad she is my sister...
