the perfect christmas tree

this is one of our favorite christmas traditions. i love going to the farm, walking down row by row finding the best christmas tree. this year was a little different for me. as i am a little emotional, and had just read the book about the tree who wanted more than anything to be the "perfect" christmas tree (but then he gave shelter & love to the animals of the forest and after a few nights looked quite straggly and realized he would never get to be someone's christmas tree). i couldn't make a decision. as i got teary eyed walking past the "straggly" ones, recounting the story of how paul had to get rid of the best christmas tree from a couple years ago while i was at work (because i really did cry when he talked about taking down the tree of all tree's) and with paul's laughing at me, he finally had to help me. he took my hand, and together we found a beautiful "imperfect" tree with pinecones.

habits

paul and i were talking about habits and cravings during the pregnancy. we realized that i have had a bowl of this cereal every single morning since may. that's a lot of cereal! i am not sure if it is in my head that i must have a bowl every morning, but i do. even paul knows to keep a stock on hand, and most importantly, if the stock is low...he won't eat it. he saves it for me.
there is something so comforting (and delicious) about cereal...
