a new world

i was able to watch the kids for ransom and katie while they both recovered from food poisoning. i picked them up in the morning and we spent the 24th playing, baking and then headed to the bbq at g. birrell's. halfway through the day, i looked in the back of the truck and saw 1 booster seat, 1 carseat and 1 toddler seat! what a sight, and such an awakening...

6 months

6 months already? half way to a year old? how is that possible? it seems like only yesterday he was born. we literally can't get enough of him and we can't soak up this time enough. he is our light and our life.
-loves to scream and then he smiles at us to see if we were paying attention
-loves food...all food and is not a fan of sharing
-when he gets mad, he makes one loud scream, while his toes curl together
-16 lbs and almost 25.5 inches long
- gets bored with toys
-giggles easily
-grasps his hands at the air
-enjoys tummy time now that he knows how to scootch here and there
-keeps us laughing
-plays with measuring spoons and whisks
-fights sleep like the plague
-when he hears paul's voice, he will not rest until he sees his face
-wakes us up each morning with really funny noises

1st camping trip

a little history...
usually when we want to go camping, paul gets home late and most of the spots are already taken, so we end up taking something just off the road (which i hate). we do try to make weekends work, but before we know it, summer is over and we didn't go. this year, we thought we would have to make it work no matter what. we even have reserved a few more weekends this summer! anywho, we really wanted to go somewhere further away, without the crowds, but when we leave late and don't really plan, we find what we find... so...
we wanted to get out and do something this weekend desperately. we were going to go with the whole fam, but with schedules, it ended up being just paul, me and jack.
earlier friday morning (after we picked mom up from the airport and took her home so she could nap), abby came with me to find a spot and set up the tent. that way, when paul got home, we could go right away, and we could find something. we drove up to hope campground. it was adorable. granted, there were other people around, but there was shade (a must for me)! we drove around to see the different sites and finally found one that was perfect. we set the tent up and jack and i headed to the store to grab a few things. i got everything packed, made and then waited patiently for dad to get home.
-we actually went camping
-jack's face as he looked at anything and everything
-tin foil dinners that hit the spot
-i bought the giganticists marshmallows on the planet
-jack slept perfectly
-i love watching jack and paul together. i can't stand it...i pray everyday to never forget moments
-every marshmallow started on fire, and they made the messiest s'mores "too much mallow"
-jack loved watching the fire
-i didn't get any weird bug bites that i would get a reaction to
-jack loves to play with things that make noise, but at the same time, he can't handle the noise (see videos)
-reading a bit of the host
-going on a walk to see the other sites
-the camp host had 6 chihuahuas

we had a great time, and it was a fun place to go at the last minute.

love at work

jack is the luckiest little boy! each time he has a visitor at pebbles, he gets nothing but love. like all grand kids, he makes a stressful day that much better. the first thing phoebe says is, "jack oudie" "hodie" and she wraps her arms around him... he is loved.

fishes

we took jack to see the huge fish aquariam up at cabelas. he was mesmorized by the fish. if i wasn't holding him, he would have made his way through the glass. we had such a good time and plan on taking him more often...plus any trip to cabelas makes paul a happy boy!
